It is narrated from al-Hasan (al-Basri) (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both): "How will you be when you remain among the worthless dregs of people, whose hearts and trusts have become corrupted, and whose hearts have become divided," and he interlaced his fingers. He said: What should I do? He said: "Adopt what you know, leave what you consider evil, concern yourself with your own self in particular, and beware of the common people (and their affairs)."
