Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) proposed marriage to a woman of his people called Sawdah. She was a widow, and she had five or six children from her late husband. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "What keeps you from me?" She said: By Allah, O Prophet of Allah, nothing keeps me from you except that you are more beloved to me than all creation, but I have regard for your honour, lest these children make noise at your head morning and evening. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is there nothing other than this that keeps you from me?" She said: No, by Allah. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "May Allah have mercy on you. The best of the women who ride on the backs of camels are the righteous women of Quraysh: the most tender towards their children in their childhood, and the most protective of their husbands' wealth."
