Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed tawaf of the House on his mount and touched the Corner with his staff. Then he came to the Siqayah (the watering place), where his (peace and blessings be upon him) cousins were drawing water. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for a drink, and the bucket was raised up to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it and said: "Were it not for fear that people would think it to be one of the rites of Hajj, adopt it as such, and then contend with you over it, I would draw water along with you." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to al-Safa and al-Marwah and performed the sa'i between them, still on his mount.
