Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 1184 — on the pulpit, when he had flogged

Sayyiduna Junadah bin Abi Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said on the pulpit, when he had flogged the two men who had stolen from the people's spoils of war: Nothing prevented me from cutting off their hands except that Sayyiduna Busr bin Artah (may Allah be pleased with him) found a man stealing during a military expedition, and he flogged him and did not cut off his hand, and he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from cutting off hands during a military expedition."
