Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 1171 — Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik and his brother

It is narrated that Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and his brother Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) were at one of the enemy's fortresses, and the enemy were throwing hooks on heated chains, which would catch hold of a man and they would pull him up towards them. One of those hooks caught hold of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), and they lifted him high off the ground. Then (someone) came to his brother al-Bara' bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and it was said: Save your brother! He was fighting among the people. So he came running until he leapt onto the wall, then he grabbed with his hand the chain that was being pulled, and he kept pulling against them while both his hands were smoking, until he cut the rope. Then he looked at his hands and their bones were showing; the flesh on them had gone. And Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, saved Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) by means of that (effort).
