Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Once Sayyiduna Safwan bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) was sleeping in the mosque with his cloak under his head. A man came, pulled away the cloak and took it. Then he was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that his hand be cut off. He (Safwan) said: I did not think that a Muslim's hand would be cut off because of my cloak. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not say this before you brought him to me?"
