Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: In the morning and the evening, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "'Asbahna wa asbaha al-mulku lillah, wal-hamdu lillah, la ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah. Allahumma inna nas'aluka khayra hadha al-yawm wa khayra ma ba'dah, wa na'udhu bika min sharri hadha al-yawm wa sharri ma ba'dah. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-kasali wa su'i al-kibar, wa a'udhu bika min adhab al-nar' (We have entered the morning and the dominion has become Allah's, and all praise is for Allah. There is no true god except Allah, alone, without partner. O Allah, we ask You for the good of this day and the good of what comes after it, and we seek refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of what comes after it. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the evil of old age, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the Fire)."
