حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفَرْوِيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ الْأَشْهَلِيُّ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «بَعَثَ بِغَنَمٍ إِلَى سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ يَقْسِمُهَا بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِهِ، وَكَانُوا يَتَمَتَّعُونَ فَبَقِي تَيْسٌ فَضَحَّى بِهِ سَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ فِي تَمَتُّعِهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent sheep and goats to Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) so that he could distribute them among his companions, and they were performing tamattu' (Hajj al-Tamattu'). A billy goat was left over, so Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) offered it as his sacrifice for his tamattu'.
