Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11108 — When the Prophet ﷺ married Ali

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْهَرَوِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا زَوَّجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلِيًّا مِنْ فَاطِمَةَ، قَالَتْ: زَوَّجْتَنِي مِنْ عائلٍ لَا مَالَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ لَهَا: «أَمَا تَرْضَيْنَ أَنْ يَكُونَ اللهُ اطَّلَعَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ فَاخْتَارَ مِنْهَا رَجُلَيْنِ جَعَلَ أَحَدَهُمَا أَبَاكِ وَالْآخَرَ زَوْجَكِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: You have married me to a needy man who has no wealth. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Are you not pleased that Allah looked upon the earth and chose two men from it, making one of them your father and the other your husband?"
