Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11107 — When the Prophet ﷺ married Fatimah

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابَانَ الْجُنْدِيسَابُورِيُّ، وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا زَوَّجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاطِمَةَ عَلِيًّا قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، زَوَّجْتَنِي مِنْ رَجُلٍ فَقِيرٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ شَيْءٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَمَا تَرْضَيْنَ يَا فَاطِمَةُ أَنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اخْتَارَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ رَجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَبُوكِ وَالْآخَرُ زَوْجُكِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah, you have married me to a poor man who has nothing. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Fatimah, are you not pleased that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, chose two men from the people of the earth, one of them your father and the other your husband?"
