حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: صَلَّى بِنَا الْمَهْدِيُّ فَجَهَرَ بِبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَجْهَرُ بِبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
A narrator related that the Caliph al-Mahdi led us in prayer and recited Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful) aloud. I asked him about that, and he told me: My father narrated to me from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim aloud.
