حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، ثنا قَبِيصَةُ، عَنْ قُطْبَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ فُلَانٌ لِلْأَعْمَشِ: حَدِّثْ بِحَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ: كُنْتُ مُسْتَتِرًا بِأَسْتَارِ الْكَعْبَةِ، إِنَّ سُفْيَانَ يُحَدِّثُ بِهِ عَنْكَ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ: فَهَمْهَمَ الْأَعْمَشُ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ: هُوَ كَمَا قَالَ سُفْيَانُ
A certain person said to al-A'mash: "Narrate the hadith of Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): 'I was hiding behind the coverings of the Ka'bah,' for Sufyan narrates it from you, through Umarah bin Umayr, from Wahb bin Rabi'ah." The narrator said: Al-A'mash murmured under his breath for a while, then said: "It is just as Sufyan said."
