It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Asid al-Ghifari Abu Sarihah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), mentioning the strange creature that will come out of the earth (Dabbat al-Ard), said: "Over a long span of time it will have three stages of appearing. The first time, it will appear in the farthest desert, and news of it will not reach the town (that is, Makkah). Then it will remain hidden for a long time. Then it will appear a second time, from a somewhat nearer place, and its fame will spread widely in the desert regions, and mention of it will also reach the city of Makkah." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) further said: "Then a time will come when the people will be in the mosque that is greatest before Allah in sanctity, reward and honour, namely al-Masjid al-Haram, and suddenly that creature will appear between the Black Stone corner and the Maqam of Ibrahim, letting out a groaning cry, and will leave them stunned. It will be shaking the dust off its head. On seeing it, the people will scatter in every direction, in separate groups and together; but a group of believers will stand firm in their place, for they will have known that they cannot escape and frustrate the decree of Allah Almighty. So that creature will begin its work with them, and it will make their faces so pure and bright that they will become like a shining star. Then it will set out on its mission in the earth; no one seeking it will be able to catch it, and no one fleeing from it will escape. Matters will reach the point that a man will try to seek refuge from it in prayer, and that creature will come from behind him and say: 'O so-and-so! Are you now starting to pray?' Then, when that man turns towards it, it will put a mark on his face and move on. (In that time) people will be partners with one another in financial dealings and will live together in the cities, but the distinction between the believer and the disbeliever will have become completely clear, to the extent that at the time of a transaction the believer will call out: 'O disbeliever! Pay me my due,' and the disbeliever will say: 'O believer! Pay me my due.'"
Imam al-Hakim narrated it in detail through the route of al-Abqari from Talhah alone, and the narrator named Talhah is da'if (weak).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said (to the people): "Shall I not show you the place about which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Indeed, the creature of the earth (Dabbat al-Ard) will emerge from this very spot'?" Then he struck with his staff a crack in (Mount) al-Safa and further said: "And indeed that creature will have feathers and thick hair. One third of it will keep emerging for three days and three nights continuously, at the pace of a thoroughbred, swift horse's run. And when that creature passes by the people, they will flee from it (in terror) and take refuge in the mosques. Then the creature will address them and say: 'Do you think that these mosques will save you from me?' Then it will put a mark on their noses (to distinguish faith from disbelief), after which they will move about in the markets in such a way that people (because of these marks) will be calling out to one another: 'O believer!' and 'O disbeliever!'"
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this narration in his Musnad. Its chain contains Layth bin Abi Sulaym, who is da'if (weak) because of the weakness of his memory; however, the emergence of the creature is mentioned in the verse of the Noble Qur'an, "And when the word befalls them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth that will speak to them, (saying) that the people were not certain of Our signs" [Surah al-Naml: 82], and in other sahih hadith.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until two old men meet each other, and one of them asks his companion, 'When were you born?' and he replies, 'On the day the sun rose from the west.'"
The chain of this hadith contains a narrator named Muhammad bin al-Sa'ib al-Kalbi, who according to the hadith scholars is severely weak and matruk (abandoned) in hadith, and for this reason the authenticity of this report is extremely weak.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Three successive nights like these nights of yours will come, so long that when those who pray tahajjud recognise their length, a man among them will get up and complete his set portion of recitation and glorification, then he will sleep; then he will get up again and recite his routine portion, then he will sleep, and then he will get up and recite his routine portion. While they are in this state, the people will suddenly rush towards one another in agitation, saying, 'What is this terrifying situation?' They will all turn to the mosques in great distress and fear, and suddenly they will see that the sun has risen from here, that is, from its place of setting (the west). Then it will travel across the sky until, when it reaches the very middle of the sky, it will turn back from there. And this is the stage about which Allah Almighty said: 'No soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned some good through its faith' [Surah al-An'am: 158], that is, at that time faith will not benefit anyone who had not believed before it, or who had not earned any good deed while in a state of faith."
Abu Ya'la narrated this hadith in his Musnad; the narrator Sulayman bin Abi Idam in its chain is da'if (weak), and for this reason this report is weak in its chain.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Paradise has eight gates; seven of them are (at present) closed, while one gate is open (for the acceptance of repentance), and it will remain open until the sun rises from its place of setting."
Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah recorded this hadith in his al-Musannaf (hadith: 34212); the narrator Sharik al-Qadi in its chain has been criticised on account of his memory, but the meaning that the door of repentance remains open is also established in other sahih (authentic) reports.
