It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tariq bin Abdullah al-Muharibi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he stated: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) twice in the market of Dhu al-Majaz, while I was there for my trade. He (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by, wearing a red cloak, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was calling out at the top of his voice: "O people, say «La ilaha illallah, tuflihu» 'There is no god worthy of worship but Allah'; say it and you will succeed." The narrator relates: A man was following behind him (peace and blessings be upon him), throwing stones at him (peace and blessings be upon him), until he had made both his (peace and blessings be upon him) ankles and the tendons above his heels bleed, and he was calling out: "O people, never obey him, for he is a liar." I asked: "Who is this?" The people said: "This is a young man of Banu Abd al-Muttalib." I asked again: "Who is the one following him and throwing stones at him?" The people replied: "This is his uncle Abd al-Uzza, whose kunyah is Abu Lahab." The narrator says: "Then, when Islam prevailed in the direction of Madinah, we set out in a caravan from al-Rabadhah until we camped at a place near Madinah," and then he narrated the complete hadith.
The chain of this hadith is hasan (good). Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah narrated it in al-Musannaf (36544), Imam Ahmad in al-Musnad (16023) and Imam al-Nasa'i in al-Sunan al-Kubra (10146).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aqil bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people of Quraysh came to Abu Talib and said: "O Abu Talib, your nephew harms us in our gatherings and in our mosque (the Sanctuary), so stop him from harming us." Abu Talib said: "O Aqil, call Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and bring him to me." So I went and brought him. Abu Talib said: "O my nephew, these cousins of yours claim that you harm them, so desist from it." On hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed gaze towards the sky and said: "Do you see this sun?" They said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am no more able to give up this work (of calling to the religion) for your sake than you are able to kindle a flame of fire from this sun." Then Abu Talib said to Quraysh: "My nephew has never lied to us, so go back."
This chain is hasan (good).

It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that people asked her: "How severe did you find the polytheists towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (in causing him harm)?" She said: Once the polytheists were sitting in al-Masjid al-Haram, talking about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and what he (peace and blessings be upon him) said about their self-made gods, when meanwhile the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived there, and all of them fell upon him (peace and blessings be upon him) at once. Then someone crying for help reached Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and called out: "Come to the aid of your companion!" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) immediately left us; at that time his hair was done in four locks (braids). He was saying (addressing the polytheists): {Would you kill a man merely because he says, "My Lord is Allah," while he has brought you clear proofs and signs from your Lord?} [Surah Ghafir: 28]. Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) relates: On hearing this, the polytheists left the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and turned upon Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) (and beat him severely). She says: Then, when Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came back to us, (his condition was such that) whichever lock of his hair he touched would come away in his hand (having been torn loose by the polytheists' pulling), and even in that state he was saying: «Tabarakta ya Dha al-Jalali wal-Ikram» "O Possessor of majesty and honour, You are most blessed."
Takhrij: Imam al-Humaydi and Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it, and its chain is hasan (good).
