It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that indeed (the light of) Quraysh existed in the form of a light before Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, two thousand years before the creation of Adam (peace be upon him). That light would glorify Allah, and the angels would glorify along with its glorification. Then, when Allah Almighty created Adam (peace be upon him), He placed that light in his back. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then Allah Almighty sent it down to the earth in the loins of Adam (peace be upon him), then placed it in the loins of Nuh (peace be upon him) in the Ark, and it was cast into the fire (of Nimrod) in the loins of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, kept transferring me from noble loins to pure wombs, until He brought me forth (into the world) through my parents, who never came together in any fornication or unlawful act."
The chain of this hadith contains a narrator named Uthman bin al-Dahhak, who is severely weak and matruk (abandoned); for this reason Imam Ibn al-Jawzi, Allamah al-Albani and several other hadith scholars have included it in the list of mawdu' (fabricated) hadith.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was born of the pure bond (of lawful marriage), and I was not born of fornication. This sound lineage of mine continued (pure in the same way) from Adam (peace be upon him) until my birth through my parents, and no fornication of the time of Ignorance touched me in the least."
(Takhrij: Imam al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat [4728] and Imam al-Bayhaqi in Dala'il al-Nubuwwah, and on the basis of several supporting reports this hadith is of the hasan (good) grade.)

In support of the same meaning, the hadith of Sayyiduna al-Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) is also reported in the section on the virtues and merits of Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her).
