It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I was present in the gathering of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a Bedouin came to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "Do you have any desire for something good? (It is) that you bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah." He asked: "Who will bear witness for you to this truth?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This tree." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) called that tree, which stood on the edge of the valley, and it came moving very swiftly until it stood right in front of him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked it to bear witness, and it bore witness (to his messengership and to Allah's oneness) three times, and then it returned to its place. At this the Bedouin said: "I will go to my people; if they accept what I say, I will bring them to you as well; otherwise I will return to you myself and remain in your company."
Imam al-Bazzar and Imam al-Hasan bin Sufyan have also narrated it through the route of Ibn Fudayl, and Imam Ibn Hibban declared this hadith sahih (authentic).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was at the place of al-Hajun, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was extremely downcast and sorrowful. On this occasion he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated to Allah: 'Allahumma arini al-yawma ayatan, la ubali man kadhdhabani ba'daha min qawmi' (O Allah, show me a sign today after which I will not care who among my people denies me). So it was said to him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he should call a tree. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called a tree from the direction of the mountain pass of the people of Madinah, and it came tearing through the ground until it reached him (peace and blessings be upon him) and stopped, and it greeted him (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded it to go back, and it went. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Now I do not care who among my people denies me."
Imam al-Bazzar has also recorded it with his own chain in these words: he (peace and blessings be upon him) was at al-Hajun and the polytheists had rejected his (peace and blessings be upon him) call, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: 'Allahumma arini ayatan' (O Allah, show me a sign). It was said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): Call a tree. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) called a tree, and in this narration it is stated explicitly that he (peace and blessings be upon him) then commanded it and it went back to the place where it grew.
Imam al-Bazzar said: To our knowledge this hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) only with this chain. Also, in this chapter the hadith of Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) has already passed in the previous chapter.
