It is narrated from Urwah bin al-Zubayr that the first apostasy among the Arabs (the trial of turning away from the religion) was that of Musaylimah bin Habib the Liar of al-Yamamah and al-Aswad bin Ka'b al-Ansi in Yemen, which took place during the blessed lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw (in a dream) two bracelets of gold on my arms; I blew on them and they both flew away. So I interpreted them as the Liar of al-Yamamah and the Liar of San'a'."
There is a break (inqita') in the chain of this report.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him): "Before the (proper) building of the mosque, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray facing a wooden pillar. Then when the building of the mosque was completed and a mihrab was prepared for him (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) went forward to it (for prayer), whereupon that wooden pillar began to weep and sob like a camel (out of the pain of separation). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his blessed hand on it and it became calm."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), and its supporting reports are found in the Sahih collections.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that they both said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a (comprehensive) sermon to us before his passing. Then the narrator mentioned the whole hadith, in which there is also this (saying) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people, there will certainly arise in this Ummah thirty liars (false claimants to prophethood), the first of whom will be the one of al-Yamamah (Musaylimah the Liar) and (the second) the one of San'a' (al-Aswad al-Ansi)."
Imam al-Harith bin Abi Usamah recorded this hadith in his Musnad, but its chain is severely weak and munkar (denounced), because the hadith scholars declared its narrator Maysarah bin Abd Rabbih a liar and fabricator, and Dawud bin al-Muhabbar matruk (abandoned).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given the eloquent openings of speech, its most comprehensive expressions and its finest essence and conclusions." The narrator says: At this we said: "(O Messenger of Allah,) teach us some of the knowledge that Allah Almighty has taught you." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us the tashahhud.
Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah recorded this hadith in his al-Musannaf; its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Ishaq al-Wasiti, who is a weak narrator; however, the basic subject of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) being given comprehensive speech (jawami' al-kalim) and teaching the tashahhud is also found in other sahih and reliable hadith.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey. It was his blessed habit (peace and blessings be upon him) that whenever he went to relieve himself, he would go so far that he disappeared from sight. Once we halted in a barren plain in which there was neither any tree nor any landmark, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Jabir, go and fill the water-skin with water, then come with us until we are hidden from people's sight." Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: (There we saw that) before him (peace and blessings be upon him) were two trees with a few cubits' distance between them. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Jabir, go to these two trees and tell them: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commands you both to join together so that I may sit behind you." So both trees (as soon as they received the command) came close and joined together, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) sat behind them; then (after he had finished) they both went back to their places. The narrator says: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in that wilderness (in such calm and reverence) as if birds were sitting on our heads, giving us shade. Meanwhile a woman came before us with her child and said: O Messenger of Allah, Satan seizes this child three times every day (that is, he has fits). The narrator says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped, then took hold of the child and seated him in front of himself on the front part of the saddle. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be gone, disgraced and humiliated, O enemy of Allah! I am the Messenger of Allah." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) handed the child back to the woman. When we had completed our journey and passed by the same place (on the way back), that woman met us again with her child, and she had two rams with her. She said: O Messenger of Allah, accept this gift from me; by the One who sent you with the truth, it (the affliction) has not returned to this child again. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take one of them and return the other." The narrator says: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set off, and we also went along with him while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was among us (and our state was the same), as if birds were over our heads giving us shade. Suddenly a runaway camel came and fell down in prostration between the two rows of people. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped and asked the people: "Who is the owner of this camel?" Some young men of the Ansar said: O Messenger of Allah, it is ours. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is the matter with it?" They said: We have been drawing water with it for twenty years; now it has put on some fat (that is, it has become plump), so we intended to slaughter it and distribute its meat among our servants. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you sell it to me?" They said: Rather, O Messenger of Allah, it is yours. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you will not sell it, then (very well) treat it kindly until its death comes to it." The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: O Messenger of Allah, we are more entitled than the animals to prostrate to you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If it were permissible for any human being to prostrate to another human being, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands."
Imam al-Darimi narrated it in full in his Musnad through Ubaydullah. The narrator Isma'il is sayyi' al-hifz (of poor memory), and Imam al-Daraqutni mentioned that he is alone in narrating this long hadith. Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah narrated only its opening part (in the chapter on purification) with these words: "Whenever he (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to relieve himself, he would go so far that no one could see him."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hibban bin Buhh al-Suda'i (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a Companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that it was said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that my people (Banu Suda') had become disbelievers, and I was informed that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had prepared an army to send against them. So I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said that my people were firm upon Islam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is it really so?" I said: Yes. He says: Then I stayed with him (peace and blessings be upon him) that night until morning. When morning came I gave the call to prayer, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me a vessel in which I performed ablution. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his fingers in that vessel, and springs of water gushed forth (from his blessed fingers (peace and blessings be upon him)). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever of you wishes to perform ablution, let him perform ablution." So I performed ablution and prayed. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed me as the leader of my people and entrusted me with the collection of their charity. Meanwhile a man stood up before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said that so-and-so had wronged him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no good in leadership and authority for a Muslim man." Then another man came and asked for charity, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Charity is a headache, a burning in the belly and a disease." (On hearing this) I returned both my documents to him (peace and blessings be upon him), that is, the documents of my leadership and of the collection of charity. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is the matter with you?" I said: How can I accept it when I have heard from your blessed tongue the (warning) that I have just heard? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The truth is what you have heard."
This hadith is found in Musnad al-Harith (Bughyat al-Bahith); its chain contains the narrator Ibn Lahi'ah, who is weak; however, some parts of it are also narrated through other routes in other hadith books such as Sunan Abi Dawud and Ibn Majah.
