It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Have taqwa (fear) of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and be on your guard against people too (that is, guard against Allah's displeasure, and be cautious in your dealings with people so that you remain safe from their harm or blame)."
[Takhrij: This athar is narrated in the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah, hadith: 3189]

It is narrated from one of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with him) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the believer who mixes with people and shows patience and forbearance over the hurt that reaches him from them is far greater in reward than the believer who neither mixes with people nor is patient over their harm."
Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded this hadith through Muhammad bin Ubayd, al-A'mash, Yahya bin Waththab and Abu Salih, while Imam al-Harith also transmitted it likewise in his chain through Mu'awiyah bin Amr, Za'idah and al-A'mash.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Develop in yourselves the habit of patience, for it is near that trials will descend upon you; however, the (severe) hardships that befell us in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) will not befall you."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad; in its chain the narrator Mujalid bin Sa'id is da'if (weak) on account of his memory. However, the exhortation to patience and steadfastness in times of trials is also established by other authentic hadith.

It is narrated from al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sa'sa'ah bin Suhan said to Ibn Zayd, that is, Ibn Suhan: "I was more beloved to your father than you were, and you are dearer to me than my own son. I enjoin upon you two qualities, so adopt them: be sincere in heart and a true friend to the believer, and treat the sinful and wicked person with good manners, for the sinful man is pleased and content with you simply through your good manners, whereas complete sincerity and purity of heart towards the people of faith is binding upon us and is our duty."
Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded this athar in his 'al-Musannaf', and its chain is of hasan (good) grade.
