Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3190 — The virtue of mixing with people

وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، ثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ وَثَّابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ الَّذِي يُخَالِطُ النَّاسَ وَيَصْبِرُ عَلَى أَذَاهُمْ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ الَّذِي لَا يُخَالِطُ النَّاسَ وَلَا يَصْبِرُ عَلَى أَذَاهُمْ " .
3190 \ 2 - وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، ثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، بِهِ .

It is narrated from one of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with him) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the believer who mixes with people and shows patience and forbearance over the hurt that reaches him from them is far greater in reward than the believer who neither mixes with people nor is patient over their harm."
Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded this hadith through Muhammad bin Ubayd, al-A'mash, Yahya bin Waththab and Abu Salih, while Imam al-Harith also transmitted it likewise in his chain through Mu'awiyah bin Amr, Za'idah and al-A'mash.
