بَابُ ذَمِّ الكذب ومدح الصدق

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ دَلَّافٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ ، عَنْ بِلَالِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : لَا يَغُرَّنَّكَ صَلَاةُ امْرِئٍ ، وَلَا صِيَامُهُ ، وَلَكِنْ إِذَا حَدَّثَ صَدَقَ ، وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ أَدَّى ، وَإِذَا أَشْفَى وَرِعَ .
هَذَا مَوْقُوفٌ صَحِيحٌ .

Sayyiduna Bilal bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Let not a person's abundant prayer and his fasting ever deceive you; rather (the true person is the one who), when he speaks, tells the truth; when he is entrusted with something, he fulfils the trust (honestly); and when he reaches the brink of a sin or some worldly gain, he adopts piety and restraint."

وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَصْلُحُ شَيْءٌ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ فِي جِدٍّ ، وَلَا هَزْلٍ " .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "No form or part of lying is ever permissible, whether it is told seriously or merely in jest and fun."

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ .
2633 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ سِنَانٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَقَبَّلُوا لِي سِتًّا أَتَقَبَّلْ لَكُمُ الْجَنَّةَ " ، قِيلَ : مَا هِيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ : " إِذَا حَدَّثْتُمْ فَلَا تَكْذِبُوا ، وَإِذَا وَعَدْتُمْ ، فَلَا تُخْلِفُوا ، وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنْتُمْ فَلَا تَخُونُوا ، وَغُضُّوا أَبْصَارَكُمْ ، وَاحْفَظُوا فُرُوجَكُمْ ، وَكُفُّوا أَيْدِيَكُمْ " .
2633 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ سِنَانٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَقَبَّلُوا لِي سِتًّا أَتَقَبَّلْ لَكُمُ الْجَنَّةَ " ، قِيلَ : مَا هِيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ : " إِذَا حَدَّثْتُمْ فَلَا تَكْذِبُوا ، وَإِذَا وَعَدْتُمْ ، فَلَا تُخْلِفُوا ، وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنْتُمْ فَلَا تَخُونُوا ، وَغُضُّوا أَبْصَارَكُمْ ، وَاحْفَظُوا فُرُوجَكُمْ ، وَكُفُّوا أَيْدِيَكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Guarantee me six things on your part, and I will guarantee Paradise for you." It was said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what are those six things? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you speak, do not lie; when you make a promise, do not break it; when something is entrusted to you, do not betray it; lower your gazes; guard your private parts; and restrain your hands (from harming people)."
Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah and Ahmad bin Mani' recorded it through Yunus bin Muhammad and Yahya bin Ishaq; its chain is of hasan (good) grade, and supporting reports for it are found in Musnad Ahmad and Sahih Ibn Hibban.
