Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2634 — Placing the hands on the hips

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to hold in his hand, as a staff for support, the stalk of a cluster of the fine date variety called Ibn Tab; and Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) himself also used it for support in his house and while going to and from his properties and orchards."
Imam al-Harith recorded this hadith in his Musnad; its chain contains a narrator named Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi, who according to the majority of hadith scholars is weak and matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith).
