Giving to the poet

Nujayd bin Imran (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), that he gave a poet a monetary gift. It was said to him: O Abu Nujayd, are you giving money to a poet? He said: "Indeed, I am thereby protecting my honour and dignity by ransoming it from him (from his satire and slander)."
Imam Abu Dawud narrated this hadith, and its chain is hasan (good).

It is narrated from Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah have mercy on him) that "A man praised and extolled Allah Almighty and also praised the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him (wealth and goods) on account of his praise and glorification of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, who created him, but did not give him anything on account of the praise and commendation of his own noble self."
Imam Musaddad narrated it in his Musnad, and its chain is mursal.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Aswad bin Sari' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have composed a piece in praise and glorification of Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and I have also composed another in praise of your noble status." At this the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Present that piece, and begin (your recitation) with the praise and glorification of Allah Almighty."
The narrator Ali bin Zayd bin Jud'an in the chain of this report is weak; however, there are supporting reports for it in other books of hadith which establish its basis.
