بَابُ الزَّجْرِ عَنْ التداوي بالحرام

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ : " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَيْنَ يُذْهَبُ بِكُمْ ؟ أَتَسْقُونَ أَوْلَادَكُمُ الْخَمْرَ ؟ إِنَّ أَوْلَادَكُمْ وُلِدُوا عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ ، وَإِنَّ اللهَ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ شِفَاءَكُمْ فِيمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said (while admonishing the people): "O people! Where are you being taken? Do you give your children wine to drink? Your children were born upon the sound natural disposition (fitrah), and indeed Allah Almighty has certainly not placed your cure in the things that He has made unlawful for you."
The chain of this narration is sahih (authentic). Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned its last part in his Sahih in mu'allaq form (without a chain), while Ibn Abi Shaybah and al-Bayhaqi also narrated it with a connected chain.

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا : اشْتَكَتِ ابْنَةٌ لِي ، فَنَبَذْتُ لَهَا فِي تَوْرٍ ، فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَغْلِي ، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا ؟ " فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّ ابْنَتِي اشْتَكَتْ فَنَبَذْتُ لَهَا هَذَا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ شِفَاءَكُمْ فِي حَرَامٍ " .

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that one of my daughters fell ill, so I prepared nabidh (a steeped drink) in a vessel for her recovery. Meanwhile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came in while it was bubbling in the vessel (that is, it was fermenting). He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is this?" I submitted: My daughter is ill, so I have prepared this drink for her. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has not placed your cure in anything that has been made unlawful for you."
