It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that we went with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to visit a man of the Ansar who was suffering badly from a swelling (an inflammation or abscess). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (drawing attention to its treatment) said: "Will you not remove it (the harmful matter) from his body?" The narrator relates: Then the abscess was lanced (that is, a lancet was applied and the corrupt matter drained), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was himself present there (and witnessing the procedure).
Musnad Abi Ya'la: 2498; Majma' al-Zawa'id: 5/97. According to Allamah al-Haythami (may Allah have mercy on him), its chain contains Abu al-Rabi' al-Samman, who is da'if (weak); however, Allamah al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it sahih in 'Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah' (3558).
