Imam al-Tayalisi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ja'far bin Burd narrated to us from Umm Salim, and she from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). She said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked a man: "How much blessing is there in your house?" That is, he meant a sheep.

It is narrated from Umm Rashid, the freed slave-woman of Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her), that Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) at midday, and she said: "Set some food before Abu al-Hasan (Ali (may Allah be pleased with him))." Umm Rashid said: I set out whatever was in the house. At this Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Why is it that I do not see blessing (its signs) with you?" Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: "Is this food not a blessing!" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I do not mean this (food). Do you not have a sheep?" I (Umm Rashid) said: "By Allah, we do not have a sheep."
