بَابُ فَضْلِ الديك الأبيض
The virtue of the white rooster

قَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ جُمَيْعٍ ، ثَنَا أَبَانُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : صَوْتُ الدِّيكِ ، وَضَرْبُهُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ ، رُكُوعُهُ وَسُجُودُهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The crowing of the rooster and its flapping of its wings are its bowing (ruku') and its prostration (sujud)."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ ، ثَنَا عَمْرٌو ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا ، وَعَنْ أَبَانَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ مَرْفُوعًا : الدِّيكُ الْأَبْيَضُ صَدِيقِي ، وَصَدِيقُ صَدِيقِي ، وَعَدُوُّ عَدُوِّي .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The white rooster is my friend, and the friend of my friend, and the enemy of my enemy."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ ، ثَنَا وَهْبٌ ، ثَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي زَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ مِثْلَهُ ، وَزَادَ : يَحْرُسُ دَارَ صَاحِبِهِ وَتِسْعَ دُورٍ حَوْلَهُ ، وَكَانَ يُبَيِّتُهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ .
Another narration like the previously mentioned one is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Zayd al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), and it contains this addition: "It (that is, the white rooster) guards the house of its owner and nine houses around it as well, and (the owner) used to let it spend the night in his house."
