قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ يُقَالُ لَهُ : ابْنُ الْأَدْرَعِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : تَمَعْدَدُوا ، وَاخْشَوْشِنُوا ، وَانْتَضِلُوا ، وَامْشُوا حُفَاةً .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn al-Adra' al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that "the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Leave plumpness and softness and become hardy and strong; accustom the body to hardship and adopt a rugged way of life; practise archery; and walk barefoot.'"
وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، ثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ الْأَعْوَرُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَمِيصُ قُطْنٍ قَصِيرُ الطُّولِ قَصِيرُ الْكُمَّيْنِ .
2221 \ 2 - وَقَالَ عَبْدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ ، ثَنَا خَالِدٌ بِهِ .
2221 \ 3 - وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ بِهِ .
2221 \ 2 - وَقَالَ عَبْدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ ، ثَنَا خَالِدٌ بِهِ .
2221 \ 3 - وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ بِهِ .
Musaddad said: Khalid narrated to us, from Muslim al-A'war, from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a cotton shirt that was short in length and short in the sleeves as well."
And Abd said: Habban bin Hilal narrated to us, from Khalid, with this same chain.
And Ahmad bin Mani' said: Ali bin Asim narrated to us from Muslim with this same chain.
And Abd said: Habban bin Hilal narrated to us, from Khalid, with this same chain.
And Ahmad bin Mani' said: Ali bin Asim narrated to us from Muslim with this same chain.
وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : اشْتَرَى عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَمِيصَيْنِ سُنْبُلَانِيَّيْنِ أَنْبِجَانِيَّيْنِ بِسَبْعَةِ دَرَاهِمَ ، فَكَسَى قَنْبَرً أَحَدَهُمَا . فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَلْبَسَ إِذَا إِزَارُهُ مَرْقُوعٌ رُقْعَةً مِنْ أَدَمٍ " .
It is narrated from Sa'id (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) bought two shirts of the Sunbulani and Anbijani kind for seven dirhams. Then he dressed Qanbar (his slave) in one of them, and when he himself intended to put on the other shirt, he saw that his waist-wrap was mended with a patch of leather.
