قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْيَحْصَبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: إِنْ لَمْ تَغُلَّ أُمَّتِي لَمْ يَقْرَبْهُمْ عَدُوٌّ أَبَدًا ، فَقَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ لِحَبِيبِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ : هَلْ ثَبَتَ لَكُمُ الْعَدُوُّ حَلْبَةَ شَاةٍ ؟ فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ وَثَلَاثِ شِيَاهٍ عُزُزٍ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : غَلَلْتُمْ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : الْعُزُزُ : ضِيقُ الْإِحْلِيلِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If my Ummah does not commit treachery (in the spoils of war), the enemy will never be able to come near them." Then Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Habib bin Maslamah: "Has the enemy been able to stand firm against you even for the time it takes to milk a goat?" He replied: "Yes, and even for as long as it takes to milk three goats with narrow teats." Then Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said (with regret): "By the Lord of the Ka'bah! You have committed treachery." Imam Ishaq bin Rahwayh says that al-'uzuz means a narrow teat duct (which makes milking laborious and slow).
قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : ثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ لَيْثِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : لَا يَحِلُّ لِأَحَدٍ شَيْءٌ مِنْ غَنَائِمِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ قَلِيلٌ وَلَا كَثِيرٌ ، خَيْطٌ وَلَا مِخْيَطٌ لِآخِذٍ ، وَلَا مُعْطِي إِلَّا بِحَقٍّ .
2079 \ 2 - حَدَّثَنَا خَلِيفَةُ بْنُ خَيَّاطٍ ، ثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ لَيْثًا ، يَذْكُرُ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، مَا يَحِلُّ لِي مِنْ هَذِهِ الْغَنَائِمِ ؟ قَالَ : لَا يَحِلُّ مِنْهُ خَيْطٌ وَلَا مِخْيَطٌ لِآخِذٍ وَلَا مُعْطِي .
2079 \ 2 - حَدَّثَنَا خَلِيفَةُ بْنُ خَيَّاطٍ ، ثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ لَيْثًا ، يَذْكُرُ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، مَا يَحِلُّ لِي مِنْ هَذِهِ الْغَنَائِمِ ؟ قَالَ : لَا يَحِلُّ مِنْهُ خَيْطٌ وَلَا مِخْيَطٌ لِآخِذٍ وَلَا مُعْطِي .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Nothing from the spoils of war of the Muslims, little or much, is lawful for anyone, not even a thread or a needle, neither for the one who takes nor for the one who gives, except what is by right (that is, according to the lawful distribution)." In another chain of the same hadith it is narrated that a man asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is lawful for me from these spoils? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Neither a thread nor a needle is lawful for the one who takes or for the one who gives."
قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، ثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ ، ثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنِّي مُمْسِكٌ بِحُجَزِكُمْ عَنِ النَّارِ ، هَلُمَّ عَنِ النَّارِ ، وَتَغْلِبُونَنِي ، تَقَاحَمُونَ فِيهَا تَقَاحُمَ الْفَرَاشِ وَالْجَنَادِبِ ، فَأُوشِكُ أَنْ أُرْسِلَ بِحُجَزِكُمْ وَأَنَاقِرِكُمْ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ فَتَرِدُونَ عَلَيَّ مَعًا وَأَشْتَاتًا ، فَأَعْرِفُكُمْ بِسِيمَاكُمْ وَأَسْمَائِكُمْ كَمَا يَعْرِفُ الرَّجُلُ الْغَرِيبَةَ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ فِي إِبِلِهِ ، وَيُذْهَبُ بِكُمْ ذَاتَ الشِّمَالِ ، وَأُنَاشِدُ فِيكُمْ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ ، فَأَقُولُ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، قَوْمِي ، أَيْ رَبِّ ، أُمَّتِي . فَيَقُولُ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، إِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثُوا بَعْدَكَ ; إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَمْشُونَ بَعْدَكَ الْقَهْقَرِيَّ عَلَى أَعْقَابِهِمْ ، فَلَا أَعْرِفَنَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَحَدَكُمْ يَحْمِلُ شَاةً لَهُ ثُغَاءٌ ، فَيُنَادِي : يَا مُحَمَّدُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، فَأَقُولُ : لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ بَلَّغْتُكَ ، فَلَا أَعْرِفَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَحْمِلُ فَرَسًا لَهَا حَمْحَمَةٌ فَيُنَادِي : يَا مُحَمَّدُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، فَأَقُولُ لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ بَلَّغَتْكَ ، وَلَا أَعْرِفَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَحْمِلُ سِقَاءً مَنْ أَدَمٍ فَيُنَادِي : يَا مُحَمَّدُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، فَأَقُولُ : لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ بَلَّغْتُكَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am holding you by your waists to keep you back from the Fire, (and calling out:) 'Keep away from the Fire!' but you overpower me and keep falling into it as moths and locusts fall. Soon I shall let go of your waists, and I will be waiting for you at the Pond (al-Kawthar). You will come to me both together and in separate groups, and I will recognise you by your marks and your names just as a man recognises a stranger camel among his own herd. Then you will be taken towards the left (towards Hell), and I will plead for you before the Lord of the Worlds: 'O my Lord, my people! O my Lord, my Ummah!' Then Allah Almighty will say: 'O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! You do not know what new things they introduced into the religion after you; these people turned back on their heels after you.' So let me never find any of you on the Day of Resurrection carrying on his neck a bleating goat and calling out: 'O Muhammad! O Muhammad! (peace and blessings be upon him)' for I will say: 'I have no power to do anything for you before Allah; I conveyed Allah's command to you.' And let me never find any of you carrying a neighing horse and calling out: 'O Muhammad! O Muhammad! (peace and blessings be upon him)' for I will say: 'I have no power to benefit or harm you; I conveyed the truth to you.' And let me never find any of you carrying a waterskin of leather and calling out: 'O Muhammad! O Muhammad! (peace and blessings be upon him)' for I will say: 'I can do nothing for you; I certainly conveyed (the truth) to you.'"
