بَابُ مَا للمرأة مِنْ الأجر إِذَا حملت
The reward a woman receives when she is pregnant

قَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْمَرُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، نَبَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : أُرَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ لِلْمَرْأَةِ فِي حَمْلِهَا إِلَى وَضْعِهَا ، إِلَى فِصَالِهَا مِنَ الْأَجْرِ ، كَالْمُتَشَحِّطِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ، فَإِنْ هَلَكَتْ فِيمَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ فَلَهَا أَجْرُ شَهِيدٍ ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) (and the narrator thinks that he related it as a saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For a woman, in all the stages from conceiving to giving birth and then weaning the child, there is a reward as great as that of the mujahid who is soaked in his own blood in the path of Allah; and if she dies during this intervening period, she is granted the reward and rank of a martyr."
وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبٌ - هُوَ ابْنُ بَقِيَّةَ - ، نَبَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مِنْ تِسْعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ امْرَأَةً وَاحِدَةٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، وَبَقِيَّتُهُنَّ فِي النَّارِ " . فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى مَنْ حَضَرَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَةَ إِذَا حَمَلَتْ فَإِنَّ لَهَا أَجْرَ الصَّائِمِ الْقَائِمِ الْمُحْرِمِ الْمُجَاهِدِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَعَالَى . فَإِذَا وَضَعَتْ فَإِنَّ لَهَا فِي أَوَّلِ رَضْعَةٍ أَجْرَ حَيَاةِ نَسَمَةٍ ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Out of ninety-nine women only one will go to Paradise, while the rest of them will be in Hell." This weighed very heavily on the Muhajirun who were present, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to console them): "When a Muslim woman becomes pregnant, she receives a reward equal to that of one who fasts, one who stands at night in prayer, one in ihram and one who wages jihad in the path of Allah Almighty; and when she gives birth, then for nursing the child the first time she receives a reward equal to giving life to a soul."
