الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، ثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - انْتَهَى إِلَى الصَّفَا ، فَبَدَأَ بِهِ نَهَارًا ، فَوَقَفَ عِنْدَهُ ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَمْشِي حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى بَطْنِ الْوَادِي ، فَرَمَلَ وَرَمَلَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ ، حَتَّى جَاوَزَ الْوَادِيَ ، ثُمَّ مَشَى .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): he reached al-Safa and began (the sa'i) from there during the day. He stood there, then kept walking until, when he reached the low middle part of the valley (Batn al-Wadi), he moved with quick steps (doing ramal), and the people moved quickly with him, until, when he had passed beyond the valley, he walked (normally) again."
وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، ثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ وَلَدٍ لِشَيْبَةَ ، قَالَتْ : رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، وَيَقُولُ : لَا يُقْطَعُ الْأَبْطَحُ إِلَّا شَدًّا .
It is narrated from Safiyyah bint Shaybah, from an umm walad (slave mother) of Shaybah, that she said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing sa'i between al-Safa and al-Marwah, and he was saying: "The valley of al-Abtah is crossed only by running swiftly."
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ - هُوَ ابْنُ السَّرِيِّ - حَدَّثَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ ، قَالَ : إِنَّهُ طَافَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، فَانْحَدَرَ وَسَعَى ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ ، ثُمَّ وَقَفَ حَتَّى أَدْرَكَهُ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ :
حَبَّذَا مَكَّةَ مِنْ وَادِي بِهَا أَهْلِي وَعُوَّادِي بِهَا أَمْشِي بِلَا هَادِي
بِهَا تَرْسُخُ أَوْتَادِي فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : وَحَبَّذَا هِيَ .
حَبَّذَا مَكَّةَ مِنْ وَادِي بِهَا أَهْلِي وَعُوَّادِي بِهَا أَمْشِي بِلَا هَادِي
بِهَا تَرْسُخُ أَوْتَادِي فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : وَحَبَّذَا هِيَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) that he performed sa'i between al-Safa and al-Marwah with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Ibn Umm Maktum went down (into the valley) and ran, then he stopped until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) caught up with him, and he recited (these verses): "How excellent a valley is Makkah! In it are my family and those who visit me in sickness; in it I walk without a guide, and in it my tent-pegs (roots) are firmly fixed." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And how dear it is indeed!"
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، ثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ بُدَيْلٍ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كُنْتُ فِي خَوْخَةٍ لِي ، فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، وَرَأَيْتُهُ إِذَا أَتَى عَلَى بَطْنِ الْوَادِي يَسْعَى حَتَّى تَبْدُوَ رُكْبَتَاهُ .
1306 \ 2 - مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، ثَنَا بُدَيْلُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُمْ ، أَنَّهَا رَأَتِ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - مِنْ خَوْخَةٍ لَهَا ، وَهُوَ يَسْعَى فِي بَطْنِ السَّيْلِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ ... فَذَكَرَ كَالْأَوَّلِ .
1306 \ 2 - مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، ثَنَا بُدَيْلُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُمْ ، أَنَّهَا رَأَتِ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - مِنْ خَوْخَةٍ لَهَا ، وَهُوَ يَسْعَى فِي بَطْنِ السَّيْلِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ ... فَذَكَرَ كَالْأَوَّلِ .
It is narrated from Safiyyah bint Shaybah that she said: "I was in a small window of mine, and I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing sa'i between al-Safa and al-Marwah, and I saw that whenever he came to the low part of the valley he moved so swiftly that both his blessed knees became visible." In another narration: a woman of their people saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from her window while he was performing sa'i in the middle of the torrent-bed and was saying something; then the narrator mentioned the same as the first hadith.
وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُغِيثٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي نَوْفَلٍ ، قَالَتْ : إِنَّهَا اطَّلَعَتْ مِنْ خَوْخَةٍ لَهَا ، فَرَأَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى كَتَبَ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّعْيَ ، فَاسْعَوْا ، وَسَمِعَتْهُ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ وَهُوَ يَسْعَى : " رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْأَعَزُّ الْأَكْرَمُ ! .
It is narrated from Safiyyah bint Shaybah, from a woman of Banu Nawfal, that she looked out from a small window of hers and saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was saying: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has prescribed sa'i for you, so perform sa'i." She also heard him say during the sa'i: 'Rabbighfir warham, innaka anta al-a'azzu al-akram' (My Lord, forgive and have mercy; truly You are the Most Mighty, the Most Generous).
مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَا أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ إِنَّمَا طَوَافُكُمْ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ إِذَا رَجَعْتُمْ مِنْ مِنًى .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "O people of Makkah! Your tawaf (sa'i) between al-Safa and al-Marwah is only when you return from Mina."
