بَابُ مشروعية ملاقاة الْحَاجِّ والتبشير بسلامته
The legitimacy of meeting the pilgrim and congratulating him on his safe return

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ لَيْثِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عُمَرُ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - : يُغْفَرُ لِلْحَاجِّ وَلِمَنِ اسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ الْحَاجُّ بَقِيَّةَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ ، وَالْمُحَرَّمِ ، وَصَفَرَ ، وَعَشْرًا مِنْ رَبِيعٍ الْأَوَّلِ .
It is narrated from al-Muhajir (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), said: "The pilgrim is forgiven, and so is the one for whom the pilgrim seeks forgiveness; this virtue lasts for the rest of Dhu al-Hijjah, Muharram, Safar and the first ten days of Rabi' al-Awwal."

وَقَالَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، أَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - صَلَّى بِالْمَدِينَةِ بِالنَّاسِ مَسَاءً ، يَوْمَ النَّفْرِ الْآخِرِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَلَا إِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَدْ سَبَقَ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ ، وَأَنَّ ذَكْوَانَ مَوْلَى مَرْوَانَ قَدْ سَبَقَ الْحَاجَّ ، وَأَخْبَرَ عَنِ النَّاسِ بِسَلَامَةٍ .
قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : وَفِي ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ ذَكْوَانُ :
وَأَنَا الَّذِي كَلَّفْتُهَا سَيْرَ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِنًى نَصًّا إِلَى أَهْلِ يَثْرِبِ
هَذَا الْإِسْنَادُ إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - عَلَى شَرْطِ الصَّحِيحِ ، وَهُوَ مَوْقُوفٌ .
قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : وَفِي ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ ذَكْوَانُ :
وَأَنَا الَّذِي كَلَّفْتُهَا سَيْرَ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِنًى نَصًّا إِلَى أَهْلِ يَثْرِبِ
هَذَا الْإِسْنَادُ إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - عَلَى شَرْطِ الصَّحِيحِ ، وَهُوَ مَوْقُوفٌ .
Wahb bin Kaysan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) leading the people in prayer in Madinah on the evening of the last day of departure (from Mina). After the prayer he said: "Behold! Muhammad Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) has gone ahead in good deeds, and Dhakwan, the freed slave of Marwan, has also arrived ahead of the pilgrims and brought news of the people's safety."
Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that on this occasion Dhakwan said this verse: "And I am the one who was charged with travelling at speed in a single night from the people of Mina to the people of Yathrib."
The chain of this report up to Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) meets the condition of the Sahih; however, this report is mawquf (stopping at the Companion).
