قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ، ثَنَا طَيِّبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا ، تَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَنْهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ ، وَيَأْمُرُ بِتَبْكِيرِ الْإِفْطَارِ ، وَتَأْخِيرِ السَّحُورِ .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid wisal (continuous fasting, that is, fasting day after day without breaking the fast), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order hastening the iftar and delaying the suhur.
وَقَالَ أَيْضًا : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، ثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثَنَا حُبَابَةُ بِنْتُ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهَا أُمِّ حَفْصٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَكِيمٍ بِنْتِ وَدَاعٍ قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : عَجِّلُوا الْإِفْطَارَ ، وَأَخِّرُوا السُّحُورَ .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Hakim bint Wada' (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Hasten in breaking the fast, and delay the pre-dawn meal (suhur)."
وَقَالَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ ، عَنْ حَرَامِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : لَا وِصَالَ فِي الصَّوْمِ .
1026 \ 2 - قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنَا الْيَمَانُ أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، بِهِ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no 'wisal' (that is, fasting continuously for several days without breaking the fast) in fasting; it is not permissible."
Imam al-Tayalisi (may Allah have mercy on him) also mentioned this report through another chain, in which al-Yaman Abu Hudhayfah narrated the hadith with these same words, through Abu Atiq, from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him).

وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ بَابَكَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوَاصِلُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to observe the wisal fast (that is, fasting continuously for several days without breaking the fast)."
وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ [أَبِي] عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ حَرَامِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : لَا صَمْتَ يَوْمٍ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ ، وَلَا وِصَالَ فِي الصِّيَامِ ، وَلَا تَعَرُّبَ بَعْدَ الْهِجْرَةِ ، وَلَا هِجْرَةَ بَعْدَ الْفَتْحِ ... الْحَدِيثَ . [2] وَرَوَاهُ أَبُو قُرَّةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أُخْبِرْتُ عَنْ حَرَامِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، بِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not permissible to keep a fast of silence for the whole day until night (observing complete silence as an act of worship); nor is wisal in fasting (fasting continuously for several days without suhur or iftar) correct; it is not lawful to return to Bedouin desert life after having emigrated; and after the Conquest of Makkah, the obligation of emigration (from there to Madinah) no longer remains."
Imam al-Harith recorded this hadith in his Musnad, while Abu Qurrah also transmitted it through Ibn Jurayj from Haram bin Uthman.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wisal (fasting continuously without breaking the fast), and this sister of mine observes the wisal fast, while I forbid her from doing so."
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' said: Abu Nasr al-Tammar narrated to us; he transmitted this report through Hammad bin Salamah with the same preceding chain and text.
