بَابُ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَةً فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَهَا

[ قَالَ] مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ الْأَحْوَصِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَةً صَلَّى إِلَيْهَا أُخْرَى .
هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ .

It is narrated from Rashid bin Sa'd (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Friday prayer (with the imam) should add the second rak'ah to it and complete his prayer."
This narration is mursal (the Successor narrating directly from the Prophet).

وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَاسِينُ الزَّيَّاتُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَةً فَلْيَصِلْ إِلَيْهَا أُخْرَى ، وَمَنْ فَاتَتْهُ الرَّكْعَتَانِ فَلْيُصَلِّ أَرْبَعًا ، أَوْ ظُهْرًا ، أَوِ الْأُولَى .
722 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : قُرِئَ عَلَى بِشْرٍ ، هُوَ ابْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، أَخْبَرَكُمْ أَبُو يُوسُفَ ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِهِ . وَلَفْظُهُ : مَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ صَلَّى إِلَيْهَا أُخْرَى .
722 \ 3 - وَرَوَاهُ الْحَاكِمُ مِنْ طَرِيقِ صَالِحِ بْنِ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ ، عَنِ [ الزُّهْرِيِّ ] عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ رِوَايَةِ يَاسِينَ الزَّيَّاتِ ، وَلَفْظُهُ : فَإِنْ أَدْرَكَهُمْ جُلُوسًا صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا .

722 \ 3 - وَرَوَاهُ الْحَاكِمُ مِنْ طَرِيقِ صَالِحِ بْنِ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ ، عَنِ [ الزُّهْرِيِّ ] عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ رِوَايَةِ يَاسِينَ الزَّيَّاتِ ، وَلَفْظُهُ : فَإِنْ أَدْرَكَهُمْ جُلُوسًا صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Friday prayer should add another rak'ah to it; and whoever has missed both rak'ahs should pray four, or perform Zuhr, or (he said) the first prayer (Zuhr)."
Imam Abu Ya'la reported this same narration through his chain from al-Zuhri, with these words: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Friday prayer should pray another rak'ah along with it."
Imam al-Hakim recorded, through the route of Salih bin Abi al-Akhdar from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah, from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), a hadith similar in meaning to the narration of Yasin al-Zayyat, with these words: "So if he finds them sitting (in tashahhud), he should pray four rak'ahs (as Zuhr)."
Imam Abu Ya'la reported this same narration through his chain from al-Zuhri, with these words: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Friday prayer should pray another rak'ah along with it."
