بَابُ فَضْلِ الذِّكْرِ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ إِلَى أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ

( 23 ) حَدِيثٌ يَأْتِي إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ تَعَالَى فِي صَلَاةِ الضُّحَى .
وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُحَادَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي دَارِمٍ ، قَالَ : تَزَوَّجَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا امْرَأَةً مِنَّا ، فَسَكَنَ فِينَا ، فَصَنَعَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْحَيِّ طَعَامًا ، فَدَعَا الْحَيَّ وَدَعَا الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : فَلَمْ أَرَ الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَجَابَهُ ، قَالَ : فَرَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يُشِيرُ إِلَى مَوْلًى لَهُ ، فَلَمَّا قَامَ الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَانْصَرَفَ جِئْتُ لِأَسْأَلَ مَوْلَاهُ عَمَّا بَطَّأَ بِهِ عَنِ الدَّعْوَةِ ، وَعَمَّا كَانَ يُشِيرُ إِلَيْهَا ، قَالَ : فَلَقِيتُ الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَرَدَّ عَلَيَّ وَحَيَّانِي ، وَقَالَ : مَا جَاءَ بِكَ يَا فُلَانُ ؟ أَلَكَ حَاجَةٌ ؟ قُلْتُ : يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ : جِئْتُ لِأَسْأَلَ مَوْلَاكَ عَمَّا بَطَّأَ بِكَ عَنِ الدَّعْوَةِ ، وَعَمَّا كُنْتَ تُشِيرُ إِلَيْهِ ؟ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَا أُحَدِّثُكَ ذَلِكَ : أَمَّا الَّذِي بَطَّأَنِي عَنْهَا ، فَكُنْتُ صَائِمًا ، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي كُنْتُ أُشِيرُ إِلَيْهِ فَكُنْتُ أَسْأَلُهُ : أَطَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ أَمْ لَا ؟ ثُمَّ حَدَّثَ الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَنْ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ يَذْكُرُ اللهَ تَعَالَى حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ : كَانَ لَهُ سِتْرًا أَوْ حِجَابًا مِنَ النَّارِ .
وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُحَادَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي دَارِمٍ ، قَالَ : تَزَوَّجَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا امْرَأَةً مِنَّا ، فَسَكَنَ فِينَا ، فَصَنَعَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْحَيِّ طَعَامًا ، فَدَعَا الْحَيَّ وَدَعَا الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : فَلَمْ أَرَ الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَجَابَهُ ، قَالَ : فَرَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يُشِيرُ إِلَى مَوْلًى لَهُ ، فَلَمَّا قَامَ الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَانْصَرَفَ جِئْتُ لِأَسْأَلَ مَوْلَاهُ عَمَّا بَطَّأَ بِهِ عَنِ الدَّعْوَةِ ، وَعَمَّا كَانَ يُشِيرُ إِلَيْهَا ، قَالَ : فَلَقِيتُ الْحَسَنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَرَدَّ عَلَيَّ وَحَيَّانِي ، وَقَالَ : مَا جَاءَ بِكَ يَا فُلَانُ ؟ أَلَكَ حَاجَةٌ ؟ قُلْتُ : يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ : جِئْتُ لِأَسْأَلَ مَوْلَاكَ عَمَّا بَطَّأَ بِكَ عَنِ الدَّعْوَةِ ، وَعَمَّا كُنْتَ تُشِيرُ إِلَيْهِ ؟ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَا أُحَدِّثُكَ ذَلِكَ : أَمَّا الَّذِي بَطَّأَنِي عَنْهَا ، فَكُنْتُ صَائِمًا ، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي كُنْتُ أُشِيرُ إِلَيْهِ فَكُنْتُ أَسْأَلُهُ : أَطَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ أَمْ لَا ؟ ثُمَّ حَدَّثَ الْحَسَنُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَنْ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ يَذْكُرُ اللهَ تَعَالَى حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ : كَانَ لَهُ سِتْرًا أَوْ حِجَابًا مِنَ النَّارِ .
It is narrated from a man of Banu Darim that Sayyiduna al-Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) married one of our women and stayed among us. A man of the settlement arranged a meal and invited the people of the settlement, and he invited Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) as well. The narrator said: I saw that Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) did not accept the invitation (straight away), and he was making some sign to a servant (mawla) of his. When Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) left from there, I set off to ask his servant the reason for this delay and the sign. On the way I met Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) himself. I greeted him with salam, and he returned it, welcomed me and asked: "O so-and-so! What brings you? Do you need something?" I said: O son of the Messenger of Allah! I came to ask your servant about the delay that kept you from the invitation and about the sign you were making. Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will tell you myself. As for the cause of the delay, I was fasting; and as for what I was signalling about, I was asking him whether the sun had risen or not." Then Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated the hadith that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever offers the dawn prayer and then remains occupied in the remembrance of Allah Almighty until the sun rises, this deed will become a screen or barrier for him from the Fire."
A hadith (no. 23) will come in the chapter of Salat al-Duha (the forenoon prayer), Allah willing. Musnad Musaddad: 543. Its chain contains Hafs bin Sulayman al-Qari, who is da'if (weak), and the narrator from Banu Darim is unnamed; however, the virtue of remembering Allah after Fajr until sunrise is established by other reliable reports.

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ مِقْدَامٍ ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، أَنَّهُ جَلَسَ إِلَى جَنْبِ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ مِنْ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ فِي مَسْجِدِهِمْ فَقَالَ : أَقْبِلْ عَلَيَّ ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا حَازِمٍ : أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ أَبِي ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : لَأَنْ أُصَلِّيَ الصُّبْحَ ثُمَّ أَجْلِسَ فِي مَجْلِسِي أَذْكُرُ اللهَ تَعَالَى حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الشَّدِّ عَلَى جِيَادِ الْخَيْلِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَعَالَى ، مِنْ حِينِ أُصَلِّي الصُّبْحَ إِلَى أَنْ تَطْلُعَ .
It is narrated from Abu Hazim that he sat beside Iyas bin Sahl al-Ansari in the mosque of Banu Sa'idah, and he said: "Turn towards me." So I greeted him with salam, and he said: "O Abu Hazim! Shall I not narrate to you this blessed saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) by way of my father (Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd, may Allah be pleased with him)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For me to offer the dawn prayer and then remain sitting in my place remembering Allah Almighty until the sun rises is more beloved to me than charging forth on fine, pure-bred horses in the path of Allah Almighty (for jihad and fighting) from the time of the Fajr prayer until sunrise."
Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah narrated it. Its chain contains Iyas bin Sahl, about whom the imams have differing statements; however, on the basis of other supporting evidence, hadith with this meaning are strengthened.
