Silah bin Zufar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saying after the prayer: 'Allahumma anta al-salam wa minka al-salam, tabarakta ya dha al-jalali wa al-ikram' (O Allah, You are the Source of peace and from You comes peace; blessed are You, O Possessor of majesty and honour). Then I prayed beside Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) and heard him also saying these same words, so I said to him: "I have heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saying exactly the same words as you are saying!" At this Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say these very words at the end of his prayer."
The wording of Musaddad's (may Allah have mercy on him) narration is that Amr bin Murrah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man prayed beside Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). When he had completed his prayer, he sat and began to supplicate, and then he mentioned the same supplication. The narrator said: Then that man prayed beside Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he too made the same supplication, so the man said to him: "This is the supplication that I heard from your brother, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pointing with his blessed finger during the prayer. Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the salam, I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) making this supplication: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka al-khayra kullahu, ma 'alimtu minhu wa ma lam a'lam, wa a'udhu bika min al-sharri kullihi, ma 'alimtu minhu wa ma lam a'lam' (O Allah, I ask You for every kind of good, whether I know of it or do not know of it, and I seek refuge in You from every kind of evil, whether I know of it or do not know of it)."
[Al-Tayalisi recorded it in his Musnad: 766, Ahmad in his Musnad: 20921, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir: 1980; its chain is hasan (good).]

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said the salam to end the prayer, he would recite these words: "Glorified is your Lord, the Lord of Might, above all that they (the polytheists) describe. And peace be upon all the Messengers. And all praise belongs to Allah alone, the Lord of all the worlds" [Surah al-Saffat: 180-182]. In another narration it is reported with these words: "More than once I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying these same words at the end of his prayer, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer." And by yet another route the report is: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this at the end of every prayer" (though the narrator was in doubt whether he (peace and blessings be upon him) said it after saying the salam or before the salam).
The narrator named Abu Harun is alone in transmitting this report, and he is da'if (weak, unreliable).

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Malik al-Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she came to the noble presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) bringing a container of ghee. (The narrator said:) Then he mentioned the whole hadith, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed her to say these words ten times each after every prayer: 'Subhan Allah' (Allah is free of all imperfection) ten times, 'wa al-hamdu lillah' (and all praise belongs to Allah alone) ten times, and 'wa Allahu akbar' (and Allah is the Greatest) ten times.
Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded this report in his al-Musannaf; its chain has weakness because of the deterioration of Ata bin al-Sa'ib's memory and because Yahya bin Ja'dah's shaykh is unnamed (unknown).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seeks forgiveness from Allah Almighty three times after every prayer and says these words: 'Astaghfirullah alladhi la ilaha illa huwa al-Hayy al-Qayyum wa atubu ilayh' (I seek forgiveness from Allah, besides whom there is no deity worthy of worship, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence, and I turn to Him in repentance), his sins are forgiven, even if he had fled from facing the enemy on the battlefield."
Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili recorded this hadith in his Musnad; its chain is criticised because of al-Hasan bin Dhakwan and Sa'id bin Rashid; however, the virtue of these words of seeking forgiveness is also established in other reliable hadith.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he prayed in the mosque of Banu Rifa'ah, that is, at this very place. He ordered one of his companions to give the call to prayer (adhan) and led them in the dawn prayer. When he had finished his prayer, he turned to face the congregation and said: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led his Companions in prayer, he would (after finishing) turn his radiant face towards the people and make this supplication: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'amalin yukhzini, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min ghinan yutghini, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min sahibin yurdini, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min amalin yulhini, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min faqrin yunsini' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a deed that would disgrace me; O Allah, I seek refuge in You from wealth that would make me rebellious; O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a companion who would lead me to ruin; O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a (vain and long) hope that would make me heedless (of the real purpose); and O Allah, I seek refuge in You from poverty and want that would make me forget (Your remembrance))."
Al-Bazzar (may Allah have mercy on him) also narrated it with his own chain and said that, to our knowledge, only al-Ja'd narrated it from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), only Abu Imran from him, and only Bakr bin Khunays from him, and Bakr is not a strong narrator. That is what al-Bazzar said, although, as can be seen, Uqbah bin Abdullah has corroborated him (mutaba'ah).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the poor among the Muslims mentioned (to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) their deprivation of the virtues which their wealthy people had attained (because of their abundant wealth). They said: "O Messenger of Allah! These are our brothers; they believed as we believed, prayed as we pray and fasted as we fast, but because of their wealth they have this superiority over us: they give charity and maintain the ties of kinship, while we are destitute and do not have the financial means for these good deeds." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you of something which, if you act upon it, you will attain their virtue? After every prayer say 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) eleven times, 'al-hamdu lillah' (all praise belongs to Allah alone) eleven times, 'Subhan Allah' (Allah is free of all imperfection) eleven times, and 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah' (there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, He is alone and has no partner) eleven times; you will attain the like of their virtue." Then this reached the wealthy, and they too began to do just as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had ordered (the poor). So they (the poor) came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) (again) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Our (wealthy) brothers are also reciting the same as we recite." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is the bounty of Allah; He gives it to whomever He wills. O company of the poor! Shall I not give you glad tidings? Indeed, the poor among the believers will enter Paradise half a day, that is, five hundred years, before their wealthy."
Al-Bazzar mentioned this report by way of al-Walid bin Amr bin al-Sakan, Muhammad bin al-Zibriqan and Musa bin Ubaydah, and it contains the addition that Musa recited this verse: "And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of what you count" [Surah al-Hajj: 47]. Al-Bazzar said: We know this report only through this chain, and its hidden defect ('illah) is Musa bin Ubaydah (being da'if). Ibn Majah narrated part of this hadith in the Book of Zuhd.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three deeds such that whoever comes with them (into the presence of Allah) along with faith will enter Paradise by whichever of its gates he wishes, and will be married to whichever of the wide-eyed maidens (hur al-'in) he wishes: (first) the one who forgave his killer; (second) the one who paid off a hidden debt; and (third) the one who recited 'Say: He is Allah, the One' [Surah al-Ikhlas: 1] after every obligatory prayer." At this Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Will this same virtue be given even for doing any one of them?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, this same reward will be given even for doing any one of them."
Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad (542); its chain contains a narrator named Umar bin Nabhan, who is da'if (weak).
