قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ : إِنَّ فُلَانًا يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ رَاكِعٌ فَقَالَ : إِنَّ رِجَالًا يَقْرَؤُونَ الْقُرْآنَ ، لَا يُجَاوِزُ حَنَاجِرَهُمْ ، فَإِذَا رَسَخَ فِي الْقَلْبِ يَقَعُ .
It is narrated from Abu Khalid (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "So-and-so recites the Qur'an even while he is bowing." He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Indeed, some people recite the Qur'an but it does not go beyond their throats, whereas the real benefit comes when the Qur'an becomes firmly rooted in the heart and shows its effect."
Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded this athar (report of a Companion) in his al-Musannaf, and all its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُوسُفَ ، ثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الرَّجُلُ الْقُرْآنَ وَهُوَ رَاكِعٌ أَوْ سَاجِدٌ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a man to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating.
