قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي فُلَانٌ ، وَفُلَانٌ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ ، فَافْزَعُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ .
Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from some of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the sun and the moon are two great signs among the signs of the power of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic; so when you see such a situation (an eclipse), hasten at once in alarm to the prayer before Allah."
