It is reported from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd, Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa', Sayyiduna Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi and Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "used to deliver two sermons and sit twice (during them): the first time when he (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the pulpit, and the second time in the interval between the two sermons."
Imam al-Harith reported this narration through different chains from Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi, Abdullah bin Yazid al-Bahili, Umar bin Salih and Muhammad bin Nu'aym, all of which agree that this was the blessed practice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
