قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ : وَأَخْبَرَنَا شَيْخٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، قَالَ : مَنْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُ ذِمَّةُ اللهِ تَعَالَى فَقَدْ كَفَرَ .
Imam Abd al-Razzaq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates through an elder of Syria from Imam Makhul (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "Whoever has the covenant of Allah Almighty, His pledge and His protection and security, withdrawn from him has certainly committed disbelief."
In the chain of this narration there is an unnamed (mubham) narrator, due to which the chain is weak; however, Imam Makhul (may Allah have mercy on him) is an eminent Successor and jurist of Syria, and this statement of his is reported as a stern warning.
