Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that regarding "the middle prayer" [Surah al-Baqarah: 238] he held the view that "it means the morning prayer, that is, the Fajr prayer."
Takhrij: This athar (report) is sahih (authentic). Imam Malik recorded it with a connected chain in al-Muwatta (414), and Imam al-Bukhari mentioned it without a chain (ta'liqan) in his Sahih.
