It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came (to the mosque) while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying, and as soon as he reached the row, the man said these words: 'Allahu akbaru kabiran, wal-hamdu lillahi kathiran, wa subhana Allahi bukratan wa asila' (Allah is the Greatest, with the utmost greatness; all praise in abundance belongs to Allah alone; and I glorify Allah morning and evening). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished his prayer, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who is the one who said these words?" The man said: O Messenger of Allah, it was I, and by saying these words I intended nothing but good. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw the gates of heaven being opened for these words (for their acceptance)."
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Since I heard (the virtue of these words from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)), I have never abandoned them.
