It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man stood behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the prayer and said these words: 'Al-hamdu lillahi kathiran tayyiban mubarakan fihi' (All praise belongs to Allah alone, praise that is abundant, pure and blessed). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished his prayer, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who said these words?" A man from among the people said: "It was I." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, I saw twelve angels rushing towards these words and trying to outdo one another as to which of them would write them down (first)."
In the chain of this hadith, Asim bin Ubaydullah is da'if (weak); however, narrations with this meaning are found in Sahih al-Bukhari (799) and Sahih Muslim (600), which establish its basis.
