It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Ghudayf, or Ghudayf bin al-Harith al-Kindi (may Allah be pleased with him) (the narrator Mu'awiyah bin Salih was unsure about the order of his name), that he said: "Whatever I may forget in life, I can never forget that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with his right hand placed on his left hand," that is, he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hands in this way while in the prayer.
Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah recorded this narration in his al-Musannaf, and all the narrators of its chain are thiqat (trustworthy) and reliable, so this narration is entirely authentic and dependable as evidence.
