وَقَالَ أَيْضًا : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، ثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ بَالَ بَوْلَ الشَّيْخِ الْكَبِيرِ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يَكَادُ يَسْبِقُهُ ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَلَا تَنْزِعُ الْخُفَّيْنِ ؟ قَالَ : " لَا ، رَأَيْتُ مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَمِنْكَ مَسَحَ عَلَيْهَا " يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

It is narrated from Abu Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) that he saw Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) urinate standing, like a very old man, the urine almost outpacing him (due to urgency or quantity). Then he performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks. I said: "Will you not take off your leather socks?" He said: "No, for I have seen one who is better than both me and you wipe over them," meaning the blessed person of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
