وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، ثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ أَتَى الْمِهْرَاسَ فَبَالَ قَائِمًا ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ، ثُمَّ تَوَجَّهَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : لَقَدْ فَعَلْتَ شَيْئًا يُكْرَهُ ؟ فَقَالَ : " خَدَمْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعَ سِنِينَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to al-Mihras (a large stone basin or a particular place) and urinated there standing, then performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks. After that, as he was heading towards the mosque, I said to him: "You have certainly done something that is considered disliked?" At this he said: "I had the honour of serving the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for nine years, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) too used to do this."
