وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ النَّسَائِيُّ ، عَنْ كَوْثَرِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هَلْ تَدْرِي كَيْفَ حُكْمُ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيمَنْ بَغَى مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْنَا : اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : لَا يُجْهَزُ عَلَى جَرِيحِهَا ، وَلَا يُقْتَلُ أَسِيرُهَا ، وَلَا يُتْبَعُ هَارِبُهَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked (the Companions): "Do you know what the ruling of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is concerning those of this Ummah who take the path of rebellion and transgression?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The divine ruling concerning them is that 'their wounded shall not be finished off (with a final blow)', 'their captive shall not be put to death' and 'the one of them who flees (from the battlefield) shall not be pursued'."
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' recorded this report in his Musnad; the narrator Kawthar bin Hakim in its chain is severely da'if (weak) and matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith), so this report is extremely weak and unreliable in terms of its chain.
