Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 426 — The rebuke for pushing one another to lead

Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Abd al-Razzaq (may Allah have mercy on him), who narrates from his father, who narrates from some of the scholars, that he said: "The iqamah of the prayer was called, and the people began pushing one another forward to lead the prayer. One kept saying to the other, and the other to the first: 'You go forward,' until (in this state of back-and-forth and delay) they were all swallowed up by the earth."
Imam Abd al-Razzaq recorded this athar in his Musannaf; it mentions a dreadful divine seizure and warning for needless hesitation and delay over leading the prayer.
