قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ هُوَ ابْنُ مُكْرَمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، هُوَ ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : لَا أَقْبَلُ هَدِيَّةً مِنْ أَعْرَابِيٍّ ، فَجَاءَتْهُ أُمُّ سُنْبُلَةَ الْأَعْرَابِيَّةُ بِقَعْبِ لَبَنٍ أَهْدَتْهُ لَهُ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَفْرِغِي مِنْهُ فِي هَذَا الْقَعْبِ ، فَأَفْرَغَتْهُ ، فَتَنَاوَلَهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَشَرِبَ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : أَنْتَ قُلْتَ : لَا أَقْبَلُ هَدِيَّةً مِنْ أَعْرَابِيٍّ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ أَعْرَابَ أَسْلَمَ لَيْسُوا بِأَعْرَابٍ ، وَلَكِنَّهُمْ أَهْلُ بَادِيَتِنَا ، وَنَحْنُ أَهْلُ حَاضِرَتِهِمْ ، إِنْ دَعَوْنَا أَجَبْنَاهُمْ ، وَإِنْ دَعَوْنَاهُمْ أَجَابُوا .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I do not accept a gift from a Bedouin." Then (once) Umm Sunbulah, a Bedouin woman, came with a large bowl of milk and presented it to him (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pour some of it into this bowl." So she poured it, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) took it and drank. I asked him (peace and blessings be upon him): You said, "I do not accept a gift from a Bedouin"? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Bedouins of the tribe of Aslam are not like (ordinary) Bedouins; rather, they are our desert people and we are their town people. If they invite us, we accept their invitation, and if we call them, they respond (to our call)."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated this hadith in his Musnad. Its chain contains Muhammad bin Ishaq, who has explicitly stated that he heard it, which supports the soundness of the narration.
