It is narrated from Sa'd that Banu Najiyah were mentioned in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are a clan connected to me." The narrator said: I think he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "And I am from them." Then either the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said something else, meaning about Samah bin Lu'ayy, whereupon a man said: "Whatever bond was to be attached to Samah has been attached," or it was that man who said it and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) answered him.
In the narration of Imam Abu Ya'la, Imam Shu'bah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Sa'd bin Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) about Banu Najiyah, and he said: "They are from us." Sa'd bin Ibrahim said: This is narrated via Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are a clan connected to me." Imam Shu'bah said: I think he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "And I am from them."
