It is narrated from Abd al-Malik bin Sal' that he said: I asked Imam Abd Khayr (may Allah have mercy on him): "How old have you become?" He replied: "One hundred and twenty years." I asked: "Do you remember anything of the days of Jahiliyyah?" He said: "Yes. We were living in the land of Yemen when the blessed letter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached us, in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) was calling people to vast good. My father was among those who went out, while I was a small child at that time. When he returned, he said to my mother: Pour out this cooking pot for the dogs, for we have accepted Islam. So he became a Muslim."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad.
